Overview

Certain seafood, meat, and cheese product weights naturally vary from case to case. For these products that can’t be priced on a standardized unit, catchweight pricing solves this by automatically adjusting prices based on the true weight of each item. This ensures accurate billing, transparent pricing, and greater efficiency for both distributors and buyers.

How Pepper Makes It Effortless

Pepper supports catchweight pricing and editing, giving distributors the flexibility they need to sell products that vary in weight. The per pound price on catchweight items will be shown in the app rather than per unit or per case. This helps ensure that both distributors and operators understand exactly how pricing is calculated for variable weight products.

When an operator browses or orders a catchweight item, they’ll see the per pound rate displayed upfront, giving them full visibility into how costs are determined. Once the actual product weight is confirmed during fulfillment, the total price updates in the cart, order details, and final invoice to reflect the true weight.
