Searching for items in Pepper is designed to be fast, flexible, and simple to navigate. The search page provides tools that help locate the right products with minimal effort.

Starting a Search

Any search bar in Pepper can be used to look up items, and will provide you with the same results. Entering a keyword, item name, brand, or category directs the user to the main search results page, where results can be refined further.

Using Filters to Narrow Results

The search page includes a set of filters on the left side that help focus on the most relevant items. These filters update automatically based on the results of the search.

Common filter types include:

  • Order Guide
Shows which items are included in the order guide and allows filtering to display only those items.

  • SALT Filters
Includes dietary or attribute based options such as Free From or Diet Type, when available.

  • Item Badges
Allows filtering by badges such as New, Promo, or other tags configured by the distributor.

  • Sub Categories
Provides narrowing of results by category or sub category based on the current search.

  • Facet Counts
Displays the number of items that match each filter option, helping users understand the distribution of results.

Searching Offline

When offline, Pepper automatically switches to basic text filtering within the order guide so item lookup remains possible without connection.

Tips for Better Searching

  • Begin with broad keywords and apply filters to refine results.

  • Combine search terms, such as “organic salsa” or “gluten free bread,” for more targeted matches.

  • Use the order guide filter to quickly locate frequently purchased items.

  • Review item badges to find promos, new items, or other special tags.
