Overview

Order guides are essential for helping customers place orders quickly. In Pepper, users can build a guide directly inside the app or use the Order Guide Self Serve Tool to upload a file or copy an existing guide. Both methods are useful, and the best option depends on the amount of change that needs to be made.

Difference Between Order Guide Building Methods

Method

Use this method to:

Example

  • Build or adjust a guide one item at a time

  • Make targeted edits without preparing a file

  • Quickly add or remove a handful of products

  • Rearrange items or sections directly where you see them

A restaurant gets an additional freezer and now wants to add a couple frozen items to their order guide. The user searches for the new products in the app and places them in the correct section of the order guide. This keeps the guide accurate without the need to upload a file.

Creating Self-Serve Order Guides in PMC

  • Update or add many items at once

  • Create a new guide using an existing guide as a starting point

  • Upload a CSV to build or replace a guide in seconds

  • Roll out the same guide to multiple accounts without repetitive manual steps

  • Download a CSV File

A new store location opens up that follows the same order guide as their chain. Instead of building a guide separately, they use the Self- Serve tool to copy the existing guide and assign it to the new store. They can also upload a CSV to make changes in one action.

How to Create a Self-Serve Order Guide

1. On PMC, open the Tools tab at the top, then select the Order Guide Self-Serve page on the left.

2. To add an order guide, choose a file and upload your CSV (follow the file guidelines in the right panel)

3. Drag pills from Available Fields to CSV Preview. Drop pills on a column to assign it that header.

4. Pick a customer to assign the order guide to. Assign a name or set the guide as default, then Create Order Guide.

Note: Checking Set as default guide will erase the existing default guide of the assigned customer.

How to Copy an Existing Order Guide

1. On the Order Guide Self Serve page, select the Copy Existing tab. Choose the customer whose order guide you want to copy, then select the guide from the panel on the right.

2. For the destination, choose the customer who should receive the copied guide.

3. Assign a name or set the guide as default, then Create Order Guide.

Caution: If your ERP syncs order guides to Pepper, always leave Set as default guide unchecked. Setting it as the default may conflict with the guide coming from your ERP and could lead to missing or incorrect items.

How to Download an Order Guide

1. On the Order Guide Self-Serve, click on Download Order Guide

2. Pick a customer whose order guide you want to download. Select order guide(s) you want to download and click the eye icon to preview a guide.

3. Download CSV (or Download ZIP if downloading multiple guides)
