Sales Hub on mobile

Place an order, look up an account, and clear your alerts from a phone, without opening a laptop.

Written by Tiffany Guo

Sales Hub now goes where reps go. Order Entry, Accounts, and For You work on a phone, so a rep can write the order at the counter, pull up the account at the door, and clear alerts between stops, all without a laptop. The rest of Sales Hub stays on desktop. This article covers what is different on a phone; each section links to the full article for that feature.

Who gets the most out of it

Reps who sell on the road. Street reps working a territory list who need the account in front of them at the door, not after they get back to the truck.

Reps who write orders in person. Order Entry on a phone means the order goes in at the counter while the operator is still talking, instead of being written down and keyed in later.

Reps who work their alerts between stops. Overdue payments, churn risks, and lost items are visible from the parking lot, so the next conversation starts with the right customer.

Availability

Sales Hub on a phone requires the Pepper mobile app.

Order Entry and Accounts appear on a phone automatically for any distributor that has them turned on in Sales Hub. There is nothing to enable.

For You is opt-in for phones. A distributor on a Pro or Enterprise plan has to turn it on for mobile specifically. A rep whose distributor has not done so still has For You on desktop, and does not see it on their phone. Distributors on Lite do not have For You on either platform.

Note: The phone layout applies to screens 767 pixels wide and under. Tablets are wider than that, so they keep the full desktop layout with the left sidebar.

Everything else is currently desktop only. Copilot, Order Guides, Price Quotes, and Prospects do not appear on a phone in this release.

Finding your way around

On desktop, Sales Hub sections live in the left sidebar. On a phone, they move to a bottom bar.

The bottom bar holds three sections. Which three depends on what the distributor has turned on and the order they are configured in. Anything past the third sits behind the Profile button.

Profile is the button on the right. It shows the rep's initials in a circle, with a ring around it while the panel is open or while the rep is on a page that lives inside it. It replaces the More button from the previous mobile layout.

The panel carries everything else.

Under the distributor's logo and name, the panel lists the Sales Hub sections that did not fit in the bar, with the rep's name at the bottom as a label. It is also where a rep switches between Sales Hub and Storefront.

Switching between Storefront and Sales Hub

The Pepper mobile app holds both Storefront and Sales Hub. A rep who opens the app lands in one of them and can move to the other at any time.

Note: Sales Hub is available to reps only. An operator's login does not have it. A rep who cannot find the switch should check that they are signed in with their rep account, not a restaurant employee account.

Getting to Sales Hub from Storefront

Most reps open the app into Storefront, so this is the first thing to know.

  1. In Storefront, tap

  2. Tap Switch on the Sales Hub row.

Sales Hub opens in place of Storefront.

Getting back to Storefront from Sales Hub

  1. Tap Profile in the bottom bar.

  2. Tap Switch on the Storefront row near the top of the panel.

Storefront opens in place of Sales Hub.

Note: Switching does not lose an in-progress order.

Order Entry

Full walkthrough: Order Entry

Order Entry on a phone is the full flow, not a cut-down version. A rep can pick the account, search the catalog or work from the order guide, open an item for detail, set quantities, edit price where permitted, choose fulfillment, review, and submit.

What is different on a phone

  1. The grid becomes a list. Desktop Order Entry is a dense grid with configurable columns. On a phone, items appear one per row in a scrolling list, and a rep taps an item to open its detail and set quantity.

  2. The summary bar replaces the desktop bottom bar. It shows GP%, GP$, Commission, Items, and Total. It collapses to a single row and expands with the chevron, and it carries the Build and Review toggle and the Checkout button.

  3. GP and commission follow the same rules as desktop. Both appear only for reps whose permissions allow confidential fields, and both are hidden entirely for distributors who have turned gross profit display off. There is no per-rep toggle to hide profit on a phone.

  4. Price editing works on a phone for reps whose permissions allow it, using the same permission as desktop.

  5. No keyboard shortcuts. The desktop shortcuts do not apply on a phone.

Note: Units are not shown on a phone. The desktop bottom bar includes a units total; the phone summary bar does not.

Placing an order on a phone

  1. Tap Order Entry in the bottom bar.

  2. Pick the account from the restaurant selector.

  3. Search the catalog or open the order guide, and tap an item to set its quantity.

  4. Tap the summary bar to review the cart, then choose fulfillment and submit.

Accounts

Full walkthrough: Accounts

Accounts on a phone opens the same account list as desktop. From the list, a rep can open an account's details, hours, contacts, and employees.

What is different on a phone

  1. Two ways in. The Accounts tab in the bottom bar is new. The older route still works: tap the gear icon (Manage Account) in the restaurant selector. Both land in the same place.

  2. Every action is available. Start Order, Add Activity Note, Employee

  3. Management, Edit Customer, and View in Operator Mode all appear on a phone, the same as on desktop. Add Activity Note requires the account to have a chat, and Start Order and Create Order Guide depend on the distributor's setup, on both platforms equally.

  4. The full account view. Metrics, receivables, sales alerts, items of interest, and the activity log are the same on a phone as on desktop. This is more than the previous mobile Account Overview showed.

For You

Full walkthrough: "For You" Page

For You on a phone carries the same three parts as desktop: the alert feed, the weekly sales rollup, and lowest performing customers.

What is on the page

Sales alerts come first. There are three kinds: overdue payments, churn risks, and lost items. A rep can hide an alert, clear the feed, and reopen hidden alerts from a section below the feed.

Insights sits under the alerts, with the weekly sales rollup card and the lowest performing customers card.

Note: The weekly rollup and lowest performing customers reflect the distributor's gross profit display setting. Where gross profit is turned off, those cards show units instead.

What is different on a phone

Opt-in. Unlike Order Entry and Accounts, For You only appears on a phone once the distributor has turned it on for mobile. See Availability.

Lost item alerts open the item. Tapping a lost item alert opens that item's detail.

No Orders section. Reps who used Sales Hub in the mobile app before this release had an Insights view with an Orders section showing draft orders and orders placed today. The new For You does not include it.

Things to know

Nothing was removed from desktop. Every section a rep had on desktop is still there on desktop.

Copilot, Order Guides, Price Quotes, and Prospects are desktop only in this release.

Frequently asked questions

  1. I don't see For You on my phone. For You has to be turned on for phones by your distributor. It stays available on desktop either way. If you do not see it on desktop either, your distributor is on the Lite plan of Sales Hub.

  2. Where did my More button go? It is the button on the right of the bottom bar, now labelled Profile and showing your initials. It opens the same list of sections, plus the switch into Storefront.

  3. One of my tabs is missing from the bottom of the screen. The bar holds three sections. Anything past the third is inside the Profile panel.

  4. I tapped Profile and it did not open my profile. It opens your navigation panel. Your name at the bottom of the panel is a label, not a link.

  5. Where is my units total? The phone summary bar shows GP%, GP$, Commission, Items, and Total. Units appear on desktop only.

  6. Can I build a price quote on my phone? No. Price Quotes, Copilot, Order Guides, and Prospects are desktop only in this release.

  7. Can I edit prices on my phone? Yes, if your permissions allow it on desktop. The same permission applies on a phone.

  8. I can't see GP on my phone. Gross profit appears only for reps whose permissions allow it, and it is hidden entirely for distributors who have turned gross profit display off. That setting applies on desktop too. If you see GP on your laptop and not your phone, contact support.

  9. How do I get to Storefront? Tap Profile, then Switch on the Storefront row near the top of the panel.

  10. Why is my circle empty instead of showing my initials? Your rep record has not loaded. The panel still works.

  11. Does this work on my tablet? Tablets use the full desktop layout, not the phone layout.

For distributors

Order Entry and Accounts reach phones automatically wherever they are already enabled in Sales Hub. For You needs a separate setting for phones. Your gross profit display setting applies on phones the same as on desktop. Nothing changes on desktop.
