This month's release introduces new features and enhancements across Finance Hub, Order Agent, Storefront, and Sales Hub.
Payment Method Requirement Before Placing an Order (Finance Hub)
Distributors can now require restaurant users to have a saved payment method on file before they can submit an order. Previously, restaurants could place orders without one, making it harder to collect payment. If no payment method is saved, the user sees a clear message and an "Add payment method" button that takes them directly to the wallet flow. Contact your Pepper account team to enable this setting.
Terminal Support in Canada (Finance Hub)
The Castles S1F2 terminal is now available for Canadian distributors. It's the same device already supported in the US, and setup works the same way. Reach out to your Pepper account team to get started.
Block Prepaid Cards on Terminal Transactions (Finance Hub)
Distributors can opt in to block prepaid cards from being accepted at the terminal. For distributors with surcharging enabled, this can help avoid potential compliance issues depending on their jurisdiction. When enabled, the terminal runs a pre-authorization check. Prepaid cards are automatically declined at that stage, and the delivery driver sees a clear decline message. If the card is not prepaid, the pre-authorization is captured immediately and the payment completes as normal. This is a per-distributor setting, so only distributors who enable it are affected. Contact your Pepper account team to get started.
Automated Operator Outreach (Storefront)
Distributors can now automate customer communications with Operator Outreach, available to all storefront customers. The tool runs four independent campaigns, each with customizable messaging, configurable timing, and a message history log:
Welcome / First Order: Sends a welcome email to new customers within an hour of their first order
Abandoned Checkout: Sends an in-app chat message when a customer leaves without completing their order
Auto-Reply Messages: Instantly replies to customers who message outside of business hours
Lapsed Customer Winback: Re-engages customers who haven't placed an order within a configurable inactivity window
Admins can set up and manage campaigns from PMC > Tools > Operator Outreach.
Discount Code-Gated Promotions (Storefront)
Distributors can now attach an optional discount code to any promotion in PMC. Operators enter the code at checkout to unlock the discount, giving distributors a way to tie off-platform efforts like trade shows, DSR outreach, and email campaigns to on-platform redemptions. A hide tagline option lets distributors suppress the promotion's tagline on item details and catalog cards, useful for code-required promotions where operators are directed to ask their DSR.
Photo Change History in Image Uploader (Storefront)
In Image Uploader, admins can now view a history of photo changes for any catalog item directly from the Item Details modal. Selecting the Audit Logs button displays a list of recent uploads, edits, and deletions, along with the user that made each change and when it occurred. Note: Audit Logs history is unavailable for changes made in Image Uploader before May 1, 2026.
View/Configure Item Substitutions (Storefront)
Distributors with item substitutions enabled can now manage substitution settings directly in PMC via the new Item Substitutions tab in the Item Connections tool. From this tab, admins can assign substitute items to products in their catalog, configure substitution behavior settings, and toggle substitutions on or off for individual customers.
Note: The Item Substitutions tab is only available to distributors who currently have item substitutions enabled on their account. Distributors whose substitutions are managed through an ERP integration will see a view-only version of the tab.
Configurable Default Order Guide Sort Order (Storefront)
Distributors can set a custom default sort order for their order guide, such as by item code or most recently ordered, instead of defaulting to alphabetical. If a user has already set their own sort preference, their choice is preserved. Contact your Pepper account team to configure this for your account.
Item Translations (Storefront)
Pepper now has the ability to display item translations based on each user's preferred browser or device language. Item names, descriptions, categories, and app navigation are all translated with no setup required on the operator's end. Over 70 languages are supported, including French, Spanish, Chinese, Vietnamese, and Arabic. Contact your CS representative to enable.
Badge Ranking (Storefront)
Admins can now control the order in which badges appear across the catalog using a drag-and-drop ranking page in PMC. Badges are ordered alphabetically by default, but the ranking page lets admins promote high-priority badges (such as Organic or Allergen-Free) so they surface first wherever badges are displayed. Find it under Catalog > Badges in PMC.
Order Agent: Voice Memo Support (Order Agent)
Order Agent now processes voice memos sent via SMS or email. If a customer or sales rep sends a voice note alongside their order, it will be transcribed and handled the same way as a standard voicemail order. Supported file formats include AAC, AMR, M4A, MP3, MP4, OGG, OPUS, WAV, and WEBM. This applies to single-order voice memos and is available for all accounts.
Order Agent: Unit-Aware Item Memory (Order Agent)
Order Agent now distinguishes between the same item ordered in different units, such as "salmon lbs" and "salmon each," treating them as separate products. Previously, only one unit per item name could be remembered at a time. With this update, each name-and-unit combination is learned and matched independently, so the correct product is applied automatically on future orders.
Price Editing and Commissions in the Sales Rep Order Entry Page (Sales Hub)
The Sales Rep Order Entry page now includes price editing fields and live commissions visibility. Reps can view and edit pricing and margin data directly in the item grid, and see commission totals update in real time as they build orders.
